White porcelain

About White porcelain

White porcelain, or Hakuji, is porcelain made by applying a colorless (transparent) glaze to a white base and firing it at high temperatures. It originated in the early Edo period (1603-1867), when white porcelain stones were discovered at Izumiyama, Arita, and were then successfully fired.
