Louis XV and his official concubine, Madame de Pompadour, established a royal kiln in Sevres. One of the mysterious crystalline glazes discovered at the Royal Kiln is this deep warbling crystalline glaze that is scattered like an emperor's jade beads. The Shinemon kiln has mastered the technique of manufacturing crystalline glaze, which is extremely difficult to fire stably, as a usable work of art. When tea or sake is poured into this bowl, the green crystals glitter and shine so fantastically that one forgets about time and gazes at them, soothing one's mind.
