1964-

URAGUCHI uses a reduction firing that ionizes the trace amounts of iron in Seiji glaze, producing a faint blue-green color. A thick application of repeated glazing will finally bring forth the true depth of Seiji.
Crackles that run across the glaze on the surface of a piece are the result of the difference in thermal contraction between clay and glaze. This difference creates stresses that result in crackles, which run across the surface of a piece. Crackles give an intricate depth of expression in the pieces. The slowly expanding crackles have a semi-permanent quality that resembles life, growing and maturing with time.
