Takeshi Imaizumi今泉毅

1978- 

Imaizumi specializes in making celadon, ice crackle and Tenmoku ware which were introduced from China about 800 years ago. He said that he was fortunate to learn a lot from the Song Dynasty’s highest level ceramic artworks. His works are highly evaluated by Japan’s national museums. He is a prominent ceramic artist in Japan.

PROFILE

Takeshi Imaizumi was born in Saitama (just north of Tokyo) in 1978. After graduating from Waseda University (one of Japan's top universities) in 2002, he completed instruction at the Tajimi City Ceramic Art Design Institute in 2004. He then became independent in Saitama. His works were exhibited at the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo (2010, 2016) and at major art galleries in Japan.

Imaizumi won the following awards: the Gyeonggi International Ceramic Biennale (2007); the Cheongju International Craft Biennale’s special prize (2007); the Taiwan International Ceramic Biennale (2008); the Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition’s Grand Prize (2009); the Korea International Ceramic Biennale’s Bronze Prize (2009); and the Faenza International Ceramic Award (2011).
